At Brookside Primary School we work to:
• provide a safe environment for our children
• support children and families using early intervention strategies
• notice and take appropriate action to help any of our children who are either at risk of, or are suffering, harm or abuse including physical, emotional, sexual abuse and neglect.
Details of this commitment can be found in our Safeguarding Policy below.
We are an Operation Encompass School - this means that we receive an email from the police if they attend an incident at one of our children's home that involves domestic abuse. We are able to support children and families following an incident and are always here to help if we can. We are not judgemental; our role is to support the children and adults in any way we can.
Our Designated Safeguarding Governor is Fran Cavanagh
Designated Safeguarding Lead is Rick Tavernor, the Headteacher, who is Level 3 safeguarding trained.
Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Lindsay Warner, Deputy Headteacher, Resource Inclusion Manager and SENCO who is Level 3 safeguarding trained.
All staff at Brookside Primary are trained in at least level 1 safeguarding awareness which is updated every year.
Team teach and de-escalation techniques are taught every 3 years and more often to those staff whose children require additional support.
