Brookside Primary School has developed a reputation for providing an excellent education, helping each child to achieve his or her full potential. Every child is valued as an individual, we work inclusively with all pupils to try and ensure that there is support where it is needed and that every child is encouraged to succeed.
Our skilled and experienced staff foster a happy and caring atmosphere within which children achieve exceptional results. We enjoy an excellent reputation within the community, and are proud of our very strong partnership with parents, who say how welcome they are made to feel.
Brookside is one of Stockport's mainstream primary schools with resourced provision, this means we receive additional funding to provide extra teaching and support staff for nine children with Learning Difficulties. The provision has tremendous benefits for every member of the school community in terms of understanding, achievement and confidence.
We strongly believe in the development of the 'whole child', and in our vision to prepare our children to be ready for the challenges of the future: to be able work both collaboratively and independently; to have respect and empathy towards others; to develop a lifelong love of learning; and to have the confidence to achieve their full potential.

Brookside is a Music Mark School. Music Mark Schools are committed to providing a high-quality music education for their school community.
Music at Brookside has a strong tradition. We understand the importance of listening to and playing music for every child, whatever their needs. We see it build self-esteem, creativity, collaboration and joy in our children. We incorporate music wherever we can in the curriculum and it is central to our whole school and class assemblies. Our largest event is our annual Music Festival where we showcase all our children who play recorders, brass, guitars, percussion and sing for families and friends. This is an exciting time for the players to come together and celebrate, and for our younger children to see the musical opportunities ahead of them. Our aim is that our children leave Brookside with a love of music and the skills and confidence to pursue it further.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Pupils at Brookside are encouraged to take part in a variety of sporting activities. During PE lessons the principles of competitive and non-competitive games are taught from the earliest age. All the children participate in lessons with qualified sports coaches, and we have strong links with local sports clubs and providers such as Tennis Club, who give us access to their facilities, and Stockport County Community Trust who we have worked alongside on a variety of Sports based projects.
We are committed to using School Games to try and engage young people who haven’t previously been active or represented our school and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community. We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school.and give opportunities to those young people
